  • RL.1 Read closely to comprehend texts of grade-level appropriate complexity:
    • RL.1.a Determine what the text says explicitly and implicitly.

    • RL.1.c Cite strong and thorough textual evidence.
  • RL.2 Determine and analyze a theme and/or central idea of texts:
    • RL.2.a Determine a theme and/or central idea.
