Have you heard the news? Khan Academy and the National Constitution Center have teamed up to offer a free online course about the U.S. Constitution and how it shapes the lives of every citizen of the United States. Our Constitution 101 course with NINE total units is now live and ready for you to integrate into your lesson plan!
In this course, students will explore the Constitution’s historical foundations, landmark Supreme Court cases, and contemporary constitutional issues pioneered by the Founders and diverse figures from across American history. This course is more than just a history lesson; it’s an exploration of the ideas and principles that have shaped our nation.
As students progress through the course, they’ll watch interviews with leading constitutional scholars, professors, and experts from diverse political philosophies, who explain how interpretations of the Constitution and its amendments have shaped the government of the present-day United States.
In addition to the articles and videos in this course, we are including a number of exercises and activities. These are designed to help students apply the concepts they’ve learned to the world around them. By putting their knowledge into practice, they will be able to understand the processes of government, the principles animating those processes, and how those processes affect the lives of Americans today.
