Ohio Leads the Way in AI Education
Last year, I had the privilege of watching my boss, Sal Khan, speak with Lt. Governor John Husted about the transformative potential of AI in education. Their conversation highlighted how AI could revolutionize teaching and learning, particularly in Ohio. Since then, it’s been incredible to see that vision come to life as a statewide initiative, and today we’re celebrating the launch of year 2 of a partnership that brings Khanmigo AI student support and teaching assistance to Ohio.
A Partnership With AI Owl And Intel
With support from Intel and Ohio’s innovative TechCred program, AI literacy is thriving. TechCred has been a game-changer, helping Ohioans gain valuable skills while providing employers with a tech-ready workforce. These credentials, designed to be completed in under a year, are preparing people for in-demand tech jobs. With many trainings available online, they’re accessible to educators, students, and professionals.
Through TechCred, 14 school districts, 400 teachers, and nearly 10,000 students are now using Khanmigo. We’ve seen incredible innovation from district partners like Tipp City, Bio-Med Science STEM Academy, Franklin Local and Ridgewood Local. This initiative equips Ohio’s educators and students with critical skills, positioning the state as a leader in preparing for a tech-driven future where technology and human potential work hand in hand.
A Partnership for the Future — at no cost to school districts
Ohio’s new statewide AI strategy underscores its commitment to innovation–and makes it affordable to school districts. At Khan Academy, I’m proud to support this effort. Partnering with Intel and AI Owl, we’re sharing Khanmigo, our AI-powered learning companion, with educators across Ohio — at no cost through the TechCred Program. By giving teachers tools that save time and enhance focus on students, we’re helping ensure AI becomes a trusted ally in the classroom.
Ohio’s leadership in AI education, powered by programs like TechCred, sets an example for the nation. It’s inspiring to see what’s possible when public and private sectors unite with a shared vision. I join Sal in applauding Ohio’s dedication to using technology to amplify human potential. Together, we’re building a future where students, educators, and the workforce can thrive in a digital world.
I invite you to see how the program works, and to reach out to me if you want to learn more.
