Welcome to your Khan Academy Districts trial! This page will walk you through the steps teachers will take to get started.
Step 1: Teacher receives email and activates/signs in to Khan Academy
When an admin adds a teacher on the districts/manage-trial page, they are sent an email, pictured below:
After teachers create their account/sign in, they will be directed to the teacher dashboard on sign-in where they can create their classes.
Step 2: teachers create a trial classroom
If a participating teacher doesn’t initially have classes, they will click the Create a class button, pictured below:
Note 1 : Students will be rostered within up to an hour. This delay is expected. However, if the students are still not appearing in the reports after an hour, please contact kad-escalations@khanacademy.org for prompt assistance.
Note 2: All classes created prior to a trial will not be district synced, though any classes created after the trial has been iniated will be automatically synced. Here is what a synced vs non-district synced classrooms look like:
Step 3: teachers enter a course name and courses
Step 4: teachers add students to class
Teachers have 3 options for adding students to a class. Below, you’ll see how teachers may add students via Google Classroom, via a class link, or by creating individual student user names.
Adding students via Google Classroom
Adding students via Class link
In this method, students can go to www.khanacademy.org/join and enter the class code. They set up their own account if needed and get added to the classroom.
Adding students via entering student usernames
This is ideal for young learners. The teacher manually sets their usernames and (optional) passwords
Optional Steps
Once students are added, the teacher is able to download a CSV of their students and enter specific zip code info (both are optional).
Now the trial classroom shows up on the dashboard and is automatically district synced. If the teacher wishes to not see reports for the classroom, they can unmark it.
Thank you! We look forward to being in close touch as you move through the trial period, and welcome any questions, comments or concerns throughout.
